A Senior Rigging Artist is required to design, develop, and maintain the skeletal frameworks for a broad range of rigging applications on characters, creatures, vehicles, and variety of props that need to be animated in TV and Games.
Besides bringing characters to life, a Senior Rigging Artist should also have experience in creating and customizing rigs for complex applications in 3D animation and visual effects. Also, a Senior Rigging Artist should have strong scripting knowledge and be able to demonstrate a wider range of knowledge on the CG character development (modeling & animation) and high-end CG production (lighting & rendering).
Job Responsibilities:
Able to design, create, troubleshoot, and improve variety of 3D rigs so that the characters, animals, and props can move in the desired manner.
To ensure character movements are smooth and able to meet project requirements in TV and Games.
Actively involve in communication with clients and project management team to ensure the team is meeting the requirements and quality consistently.
Work closely with Supervisor, Animation Director and Leads, to create rigs that are meeting the production needs.
Able to provide accurate technical feedback to modelling team to ensure topology meets deformation requirements.
Able to work with Supervisor and production management to prioritize tasks.
Develop effective scripts and plug-ins to optimize animation.
Writing scripts to customize tools to specific automated animation requirements.
Able to create facial target modeling.
Thorough understanding of project’s complex workflows and able resolve any complex workflow issues in the team.
Able to handle projects and assist in project management and other related matters.
Able to take directions from clients, Supervisor, animation team and FX team and implement creatively and effectively.
Able to execute innovative techniques in problem-solving more complex task effectively and efficiently.
Able to guide and nurture new talents in rigging.
Able to instill passion, inspire and encourage growth among artists.
Assist HR team in school visitation, studio visitation and recruitment process.
Perform miscellaneous job-related as assigned.
Job Requirements:
6 to 8 years of notable experience in rigging CG characters for film production, animation TV series or visual effects.
Strong knowledge of Maya, 3Dsmax, Motion Builder and constraints related to rigging on these softwares.
Solid knowledge of rigging systems.
Comprehensive understanding of the human anatomy.
Strong knowledge of traditional animation techniques and characters movement principles.
Advance knowledge in Python, C++ and MEL.
Knowledge of Houdini will be a plus.
Knowledge of an asset manager as SHOTGUN will be a plus.
