A Lead FX Artist/ FX Supervisor supervises the FX department in creating photoreal, digitally generated imagery with seamless integration of computer-generated special effects like particle effects, smoke, fire, water, cloth, crowds that meet high quality standard in Feature Films, TV, and Games. A Lead FX Artist/ FX Supervisor is the key person in the pitching process, and he/she will be actively providing creative and technical inputs and involve in project meetings with clients and production management team.
A Lead FX Artist/ FX Supervisor is highly creative with extensive knowledge of full CG process, technical skill, and standard industry tools to create cutting-edge special visual effects. A Lead FX Artist/ FX Supervisor also designs and implement workflow for FX department.
Job Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily operation of the team, leading the department, and establishing the best workflows for the FX team.
Liaising with production on project quotation, pitching, task assignment and scheduling of the team.
Responsible for directing and guiding the special visual effects deliveries on schedule and on budget, by the balancing artistic and productivity requirements.
Supervise FX team to create, troubleshoot and improve special visual effects consistently to deliver special effects that exceed the state of art and meeting project requirement and client’s expectation.
Research, design, develop, implement, and maintain the FX pipelines to improve work efficiency and work quality.
Work closely with Production Management and various departments (Modelling, Animation, Assembly & Rigging Team) to ensure creative and effective production, in meeting high standard of quality requirement.
Work closely with the technology team to improve FX pipeline and workflow.
Develop and implement scripts and tools as needed.
Able to guide artists professionally in their career growth by providing training, mentoring, performance review, resolving performance issues and maintaining positive morale within the team.
Actively communicate with various departments and execute innovative techniques in problem-solving the creative and technical issue.
Frequently participate in meetings with department heads, production management and clients.
Assist HR team in school visitation, studio visitation and recruitment process.
Perform miscellaneous job-related as assigned.
Job Requirements:
8 and above years of significant experiences in creating seamless and high-end special effects for Feature Films, TV, and Game.
2 and above years of supervisory experiences in high standard special visual effects for film production, animation TV series or visual effects.
Extensive knowledge in Maya, Houdini, Realflow, and After Effects.
Experience with using 3DMax, FumeFx, PFX, Krakatao, Massive, Miarmy, Marvelous Designer, Nuke and other special effects tools.
Strong experience in scripting and tool development using MEL, Python, C++, Java, Hscript.
Extensive understanding of full CG development processes, different special effect techniques, and pipelines with strong analytical mind to transform abstract ideas into compelling effects.
Extensive technical and creative knowledge in FX to solve critical problem in the production.
Extensive knowledge of physics and natural phenomena.
Have keen eye for details and high aesthetic judgement.

Adaptability, especially in terms of work quality and time constraints.
